Reflections of 1st Semester
From this semester there have been many things that I have learned about. I have learned about
Pelle Cass, a Boston based artist that takes photos of collegiate events, using thousands of photos
to combine them into one photo with moving pieces inside of them. I have learned a lot about how
to take different photos, using different types of compositions to portray different elements of
photography. Throughout the first semester I have learned more about how to control the aperture
or shutter speed of a camera to control how the photo comes out. After this first semester I don’t
feel like I have learned anything new, but instead have learned more about how to take different
types of photos. My favorite project would have to be the emulation because it was somewhat
difficult to do but it was interesting to learn. My relationship with photography hasn’t really
changed. I love taking photos and it just so happens that I have taken more specific photos
for each individual project rather than just taking photos of things that I enjoy. For the second
semester I am most interested in taking emulation photos because it lets me as an individual
interpret someone else's work into my own work and use my own mind to portray what the artist
saw.
